Filiæ Laboris Mariæ

The Daughters of the Work of Mary

A semi-contemplative Marian community of Sisters.

We consecrate ourselves wholly to Jesus through Mary, and seek to participate in Our Lady’s labor of bringing souls to birth in Jesus Christ.

We seek to assist in Our Lady’s labors in three main ways:

  1. through the Sacred Liturgy, which consists in our daily assistance at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and of our praying in common all the Hours of the Divine Office;
  2. through our interior life, which is nourished daily by 1 ½ hours of prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament;
  3. through our apostolic service, especially in the service of priests and of family life at parishes.

The Filiae Laboris Mariae

NEW Mental Prayer Email Apostolate

The Filiae Laboris Mariae Sisters are excited to announce our new Mental Prayer Email Apostolate! This new apostolate will consist of an email subscription which will provide weekly inspiration, encouragement and practical suggestions for those interested in beginning the practice of mental prayer, as well as special additional emails along the way. Mental prayer is a key component in the life of the Filiae Laboris Mariae. Each day we spend 1.5 hours in silent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament as a community, and the Sisters often use other prayer or free time for additional silent prayer. But mental prayer is not for religious only!
